Bio

Jake Abbott is a clinical psychologist committed to helping individuals overcome challenges and achieve their full potential. He emphasises creating a safe therapeutic environment that encourages clients to openly share their thoughts and emotions. Jake uses a range of evidence-based modalities and strategies to help clients facilitate their own growth and positive change.

With experience working with a wide range of clients, Jake has supported young people, families in crisis, and adults facing various challenges. He has also taught undergraduate psychology units and regularly presents at conferences and educational events across Australia on a variety of mental health topics..

Jake has a strong interest in trauma and takes a holistic approach to treatment, recognising the deep and dynamic connection between physical and mental health. He works with clients to understand how each aspect influences the other, supporting recovery through integrated, client centered care.

Jake is particularly passionate about working with first responders and is an EMDR-accredited practitioner, a full member of the EMDR Association of Australia (EMDRAA), and a Consultant in Training. He uses EMDR to support the safe and effective processing of traumatic experiences and to promote long-term psychological wellbeing.
